Commercial rooflight installation in Greater London

Across Greater London we fit commercial rooflights for homeowners, builders, roofers and commercial clients. The trade side matters: an extension company with jobs running in several of the 127 towns we list does not want to coordinate a different fitter for each. We can take the rooflight element of every site, fitted to the maker's instructions and left ready for the next trade. Domestic customers get the same fitting standard, quoted in writing before work begins.

Phased replacement across a building, priced from a survey

Guide ranges for supply & fit, per unit; site set-up priced separately. Your price is fixed in a written quote after we have seen photos or surveyed. Scaffold, access towers or a crane are priced separately if the job needs them, and building control fees, where a job needs them, are shown as their own line.

Towns we list in Greater London

From the larger towns to the smaller places in between, we take on rooflight fitting across Greater London. The process is the same for a terrace, a farmhouse extension or an industrial unit: details first, written quote second, fitting day third. Remote and island addresses in England, where they arise, are covered by arrangement, and we tell you that before quoting.

Included in the work

  • Kerbs checked and packed, adapted or rebuilt where needed
  • Phasing agreed so occupied areas stay dry and usable
  • Roof survey of every unit, kerb and the fragile areas around them
  • Glass or polycarbonate — We compare glass and polycarbonate units against the roof, use and budget.
  • Fire performance near boundaries — We check how close the rooflights are to the site boundary and to escape routes.

Rules that apply in England

For non-domestic roofs in England, expect building control involvement for new openings, energy limits of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, and fire checks where rooflights sit near a boundary or above an escape route. Smoke ventilation rooflights must be certified products, with controls commissioned by a specialist. We set out what applies to your building on the quote.

Common questions in Greater London

Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?

Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.

How long does fitting take?

Fitting a commercial rooflight into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.

What upstand height and roof pitch does commercial rooflight fitting need?

It depends on the product. Manufacturers usually specify a minimum upstand height above the finished roof surface, and a minimum pitch on the glass so rain runs off. We follow the maker's figures for your unit rather than a rule of thumb. If your existing kerb or roof falls short, we explain the options, such as raising the upstand or choosing a unit with built-in pitch.
