Frameless rooflight installation in Gwynedd & Anglesey

Frameless rooflight installation across Gwynedd & Anglesey follows one method wherever the roof is. First a survey or, for fit-only work, your photos and measurements. Then a written quote with the scope and price fixed. Then a fitting day planned around the weather. We list 3 towns in Gwynedd & Anglesey on this site, each with its own page, but villages and addresses between them are covered in exactly the same way. Fitters travel to the property, so there is no need to be near any particular town.

Towns we list in Gwynedd & Anglesey

Builders and roofers working in Gwynedd & Anglesey can use us for the rooflight element of a job, wherever the site is in Wales. Homeowners can book us directly. In both cases the fitters come to the address, the work follows the maker's instructions, and a written quote fixes the price first. Fitting is carried out by vetted teams under S&K's direction.

What the job includes

  • Lifting gear arranged for heavy single panes where two people cannot safely carry
  • Glass bedded on the specified tape or sealant and fixed through the concealed frame
  • Fall set in the upstand so rain clears the oversailing glass edge
  • Glass weight and access — We plan the lift for a frameless pane before the delivery is booked.
  • Tolerance on the upstand — We build frameless kerbs to the maker's tolerance rather than to normal carpentry accuracy.

Rules that apply in Wales

Welsh rules differ from England's in one important way: rooflights lose permitted development rights in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs and World Heritage Sites. Elsewhere on a house, a rooflight that projects no more than 150 mm and stays below the highest part of the roof is usually fine. Building regulations still apply to new openings, replacements we fit go through a building notice because we are not scheme-registered, and the energy limit for rooflights is 2.2 W/m²K. A new Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027.

Common questions in Gwynedd & Anglesey

Do you make good inside after fitting?

Yes, where the quote includes it. Internal finishing usually means lining the reveal with plasterboard, taping or skimming, and fitting trim where it meets the ceiling. Some people prefer their own plasterer or decorator to finish off, which is fine. The written quote spells out exactly where our work stops, so nobody is left guessing about who does what once the unit is in.

Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?

Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.

How long does fitting take?

Fitting a frameless rooflight into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.
