Frameless rooflight installation in Mid Glamorgan

Across Mid Glamorgan we fit frameless rooflights for homeowners, builders, roofers and commercial clients. The trade side matters: an extension company with jobs running in several of the 8 towns we list does not want to coordinate a different fitter for each. We can take the rooflight element of every site, fitted to the maker's instructions and left ready for the next trade. Domestic customers get the same fitting standard, quoted in writing before work begins.

Towns we list in Mid Glamorgan

Mid Glamorgan is part of our normal coverage in Wales. Fitting teams travel out to the property, so a town-centre terrace and a house down a farm track are treated alike, as long as a fitter can get the unit to the roof safely. Dates are offered according to fitter availability, and the cost of travel is already in your written quote.

What's included

  • Inside reveal formed so plaster or trim meets the glass cleanly
  • Upstand built to the maker's drawing within its stated tolerance
  • Fall set in the upstand so rain clears the oversailing glass edge
  • Laminated inner pane — We confirm the inner pane is laminated or otherwise suited to being overhead.
  • Tolerance on the upstand — We build frameless kerbs to the maker's tolerance rather than to normal carpentry accuracy.

Rules that apply in Wales

For a Welsh home, start with where the house is. In a conservation area, National Park, AONB or World Heritage Site, a rooflight needs planning permission; outside those, permitted development usually covers one that projects 150 mm or less. Side-facing roof windows within 10.5 m of a boundary must be obscure-glazed and fixed. New openings need building regulations approval, and replacements we fit are notified with a building notice, as we are not registered with a competent person scheme. We confirm all of this for your address.

Common questions in Mid Glamorgan

What is included in the price?

The written quote lists it line by line. Typically that covers fitting labour, fixings, sealants, membrane or flashing materials, any upstand work, internal finishing if agreed, and taking away the waste. For supply and fit, the unit itself is included too. Scaffold, lifting gear and any third-party fees, where needed, are shown separately so you can see what each part of the job costs.

Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?

Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.

How long does fitting take?

Fitting a frameless rooflight into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.
