Sliding rooflight installation in Caernarfon

Already bought a sliding rooflight, or still deciding which one to get? Both are fine. For sliding rooflight installation in Caernarfon we either source a suitable unit and install it, or fit the one waiting in your garage. Fit-only jobs are usually priced from your photos and measurements, while supply-and-fit and replacement jobs get a free survey first. Whichever route you take, the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the delivery are checked before anything is fixed down. Properties in LL55 and the surrounding districts are covered on the same terms.

Fitting across Caernarfon and nearby

Jobs across LL55, LL61 and LL56 are part of our normal cover for Caernarfon. We are not an office on the high street. Our fitting teams come out to the property from wherever they are working that week. Neighbouring places such as Bangor and Holyhead are covered on the same terms, so a house on the edge of town is no harder to book than one in the centre.

What we check on a supplied unit

There are two ways to do this. Supply and fit means we source a sliding rooflight that suits your roof and install it, so one company answers for both the product choice and the fitting. Fit-only means you buy the unit and we install it. With fit-only, the product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our written guarantee covers the fitting work. Both routes get the same checks on the opening, the upstand and the maker's instructions before anything is fixed.

On the day, we cover

  • Clear run confirmed for the glass to slide over when open
  • Controls, sensors and any safety stop set up and tested
  • Full open and close cycle checked before handover
  • Planning for a roof terrace — We flag early whether planning may be needed for the work around the rooflight.
  • Power and safety stops — We confirm the power supply and the safety features before fitting day.

How a fitting day runs

Arrive and agree the plan. Sheet the floor and furniture. Set up the ladder, tower or scaffold. Check the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the unit against the paperwork. Fix and pack a sliding rooflight level. Seal it into the roof. Line the reveal or fit the ceiling trim. Clean the glass, clear the waste, and talk you through it. That is the shape of most fitting days, and for this type of job it usually takes one to two days.

Do you need permission in Caernarfon?

Welsh rules differ from England's in one important way: rooflights lose permitted development rights in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs and World Heritage Sites. Elsewhere on a house, a rooflight that projects no more than 150 mm and stays below the highest part of the roof is usually fine. Building regulations still apply to new openings, replacements we fit go through a building notice because we are not scheme-registered, and the energy limit for rooflights is 2.2 W/m²K. A new Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027.

What to send for a quick quote

Start with your phone. Take a picture of the roof where the unit goes or already sits, then one from inside looking up. Measure what you can, even roughly. Tell us what the roof is covered with and how a fitter would reach it: ladder, garden access or scaffold. Bought it already? Send the link or spec. Add your full postcode, for example in LL55, and we can price it.

Common questions in Caernarfon

Do you offer trade rates for builders and roofers?

We carry out subcontract fitting for builders, roofers, extension companies and commercial contractors. Pricing is per job or per schedule of units, agreed in writing before we start. We can work to your programme, fit on your upstand or build our own, and leave the opening ready for the next trade. Send drawings or a unit schedule and we will come back with a trade quote.

Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?

Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.

What is included in the price?

The written quote lists it line by line. Typically that covers fitting labour, fixings, sealants, membrane or flashing materials, any upstand work, internal finishing if agreed, and taking away the waste. For supply and fit, the unit itself is included too. Scaffold, lifting gear and any third-party fees, where needed, are shown separately so you can see what each part of the job costs.

Send a few photos and your LL55 postcode, and we will put together a written quote for the job.
