Roof lantern installation in Lanarkshire

Before any roof lantern is fitted in Lanarkshire, three measurements get checked: the builder's opening, the external size of the unit, and the upstand height above the finished roof, or the batten and tile details on a pitched roof. Get those right and the rest of the job follows. We handle roof lantern installation in every part of Lanarkshire, with 12 towns listed on the site and the countryside between them covered too.

Towns we list in Lanarkshire

Lanarkshire is part of our normal coverage in Scotland. Fitting teams travel out to the property, so a town-centre terrace and a house down a farm track are treated alike, as long as a fitter can get the unit to the roof safely. Dates are offered according to fitter availability, and the cost of travel is already in your written quote.

What's included

  • Roof membrane checked where it meets the lantern frame
  • Internal trims fitted to the ring beam or upstand
  • Caps, end closures and ridge trims fitted and sealed
  • Heat and glare — We talk through the glass options before you order a large lantern.
  • Lanterns and planning — We check whether your lantern can go in without a planning application.

Rules that apply in Scotland

In Scotland a new rooflight needs a building warrant before work starts. A like-for-like replacement including the frame is exempt from a warrant but must meet current standards, so the glazing has to reach 1.6 W/m²K or better. For planning, rooflights on houses outside conservation areas can often go ahead under permitted development, but it is worth confirming with the planning authority.

Common questions in Lanarkshire

Do you cover Lanarkshire?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Lanarkshire and the surrounding districts, including G and ML postcodes. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.

How does payment work?

Payment terms are set out on your written quote before you accept it. Depending on the job, that may mean a deposit, stage payments for larger work, or payment on completion. The contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, part of the S&K Group. Nothing is added without your agreement: if something unexpected comes up, we discuss it and agree any change before carrying on.

Will my new roof lantern leak?

A correctly fitted unit should not. Leaks usually trace back to the detail around the frame: an upstand that is too low, a membrane or flashing that is not dressed properly, sealant applied to a damp surface, or water ponding against the kerb. We fit to the maker's instructions and check each of those points. The fitting carries a written workmanship guarantee, with its terms set out on your quote.
