Towns we list in Isle of Wight
We work right across England, and Isle of Wight is covered on the same footing as everywhere else. There is no showroom or depot to visit. The survey happens at your property or, for fit-only jobs, from your photos. If your address is remote or reached by ferry, tell us early and we will confirm what arrangement is needed before quoting.

Included in the work
- Kerb checked for rot, size and height before the new unit goes on
- Old dome unscrewed, lifted off and taken away
- Inside checked for drips and the trim refitted
- Multi-skin domes and energy — We fit multi-skin domes rather than single-skin ones as replacements.
- Upgrading to glass — We check whether the kerb suits a glass unit before recommending one.
Rules that apply in England
Replacing a rooflight in an English home is a controlled fitting: it has to be self-certified by a scheme-registered installer or notified to building control. We are not registered with a competent person scheme, so replacements we fit are notified with a building notice, and the new unit has to meet current energy limits. Adding a new one usually means a building regulations application, because joists or rafters are trimmed. On the planning side, most house rooflights are permitted development if they project 0.15 m or less; on a side slope the glass must be obscured and fixed unless the opening part is over 1.7 m above the floor.
Common questions in Isle of Wight
How does payment work?
Payment terms are set out on your written quote before you accept it. Depending on the job, that may mean a deposit, stage payments for larger work, or payment on completion. The contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, part of the S&K Group. Nothing is added without your agreement: if something unexpected comes up, we discuss it and agree any change before carrying on.
Do you cover Isle of Wight?
Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Isle of Wight and the surrounding districts, including PO postcodes. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?
Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.
