Towns we list in County Londonderry
County Londonderry is part of our normal coverage in Northern Ireland. Fitting teams travel out to the property, so a town-centre terrace and a house down a farm track are treated alike, as long as a fitter can get the unit to the roof safely. Dates are offered according to fitter availability, and the cost of travel is already in your written quote.
What we do on the day
- Roof membrane turned up, bonded and finished at the kerb top
- Diagonals measured so the kerb is square before anything sits on it
- Treated timber frame fixed down to the deck and joists
- Size tolerance on the kerb — We build kerbs to a tight tolerance because rooflight glass is made to order and cannot be trimmed on site.
- Fall built in or level — We confirm whether your rooflight needs the kerb to provide a fall or should sit level.
Rules that apply in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland's building regulations set a minimum of WER Band C or 1.6 W/m²K for rooflights and roof windows in existing homes, assessed under Technical Booklet F1. New openings involve trimming the roof structure, so expect a building control application. Many house rooflights don't need planning permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings are excluded, and side windows near a boundary have obscure-glazing rules. We confirm what applies.
Common questions in County Londonderry
Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?
Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.
Do you cover County Londonderry?
Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in County Londonderry and the surrounding districts, including BT postcodes. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
Can you remove and dispose of the old rooflight?
Yes. Taking out the old unit is part of any replacement job, and it leaves with the rest of the waste unless you ask to keep it. Old domes, glass and frames go through proper waste routes. If removal turns up a rotten kerb or damaged decking, we show you what we have found and agree the repair with you before going any further.
