Pitched roof window installation in West Midlands

We cover 95 postcode districts across West Midlands, and we fit pitched roof windows in all of them. The work itself does not change from one district to the next. A pitched roof window still needs a correctly sized opening, an upstand or flashing to suit the roof, and sealing that matches the covering. What does change is access: terraced streets, long gardens, steep pitches, tight parking. We price that honestly in the written quote rather than averaging it out across every job.

Towns we list in West Midlands

We work right across England, and West Midlands is covered on the same footing as everywhere else. There is no showroom or depot to visit. The survey happens at your property or, for fit-only jobs, from your photos. If your address is remote or reached by ferry, tell us early and we will confirm what arrangement is needed before quoting.

What the job includes

  • Window frame fixed on its brackets, square and at the right height
  • Flashing kit matched to tiles, slates or a recessed fit
  • Inside lining fitted and left ready for decoration
  • Scaffold or not — We look at the roof height and the window position to see whether scaffolding is needed.
  • Flashing to suit the roof — We match the flashing kit to your roof covering before ordering.

Rules that apply in England

England's rules in short: permitted development usually covers a rooflight on a house roof provided it doesn't stick out more than 0.15 m or rise above the ridge, though a listed building always needs consent and some streets have Article 4 directions. Building regulations apply to new openings, and replacements go through building control; as we are not registered with a competent person scheme, we use a building notice and show the fee on the quote. The energy limit for rooflights in existing homes is 2.2 W/m²K, and the 2026 Approved Document L, in force from 24 March 2027, keeps that figure.

Common questions in West Midlands

Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?

Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.

Do you cover West Midlands?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in West Midlands and the surrounding districts, including B, CV, DY, WS and WV postcodes. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.

How long does fitting take?

Fitting a pitched roof window into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.
