Pitched roof window installation in Aldridge

Rooflight work is weather work. Membranes, primers and sealants all want a dry surface, so a fitting day in Aldridge is planned around the forecast rather than pinned to a date regardless of rain. The opening is kept covered whenever it is exposed, and a roof is not left open overnight without a proper temporary seal. That approach applies to every pitched roof window we install, from a new opening to a straight swap or a fit-only job. We cover Aldridge, the WS9 district and the rest of West Midlands.

Areas around Aldridge we cover

Aldridge and the districts around it, WS9, WS4 and WS8, all sit inside our working area. So does the ground between Aldridge and Walsall (3 miles), and on towards Bloxwich (4 miles). When a fitting team is booked, their travel is already in the quoted price, so it does not turn up as a surprise line on the final bill.

Fit-only or supply and fit

Supply and fit tends to suit people who would rather not pick a unit from a catalogue. We look at the roof, the opening and how you use the room, then put a pitched roof window on the quote that fits all three. Fit-only suits people who already know what they want, or have one on site. We are happy with either. The difference is who stands behind what: on fit-only, the maker or retailer covers the product, and our workmanship guarantee covers the installation.

Included in the work

  • Rafters trimmed where the window is wider than the gap between them
  • Underlay collar or membrane dressed and taped around the frame
  • Inside lining fitted and left ready for decoration
  • Head height and view — We think about how the window will be used from inside before fixing its height.
  • Flashing to suit the roof — We match the flashing kit to your roof covering before ordering.

Fitting your pitched roof window, step by step

Arrive and agree the plan. Sheet the floor and furniture. Set up the ladder, tower or scaffold. Check the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the unit against the paperwork. Fix and pack a pitched roof window level. Seal it into the roof. Line the reveal or fit the ceiling trim. Clean the glass, clear the waste, and talk you through it. That is the shape of most fitting days, and for this type of job it usually takes one day.

Planning, building control and Aldridge

England's rules in short: permitted development usually covers a rooflight on a house roof provided it doesn't stick out more than 0.15 m or rise above the ridge, though a listed building always needs consent and some streets have Article 4 directions. Building regulations apply to new openings, and replacements go through building control; as we are not registered with a competent person scheme, we use a building notice and show the fee on the quote. The energy limit for rooflights in existing homes is 2.2 W/m²K, and the 2026 Approved Document L, in force from 24 March 2027, keeps that figure.

Details that speed up your quote

Keep it simple. Two or three photos, outside and inside. Approximate sizes. What the roof is made of. Anything awkward about getting up there, such as a conservatory below, a narrow side path or no parking. If you bought the rooflight online, the link or model name. Then your postcode in or around WS9. That is enough for a first price.

Common questions in Aldridge

Do you cover Aldridge?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Aldridge and the surrounding districts, including WS9. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.

What is included in the price?

The written quote lists it line by line. Typically that covers fitting labour, fixings, sealants, membrane or flashing materials, any upstand work, internal finishing if agreed, and taking away the waste. For supply and fit, the unit itself is included too. Scaffold, lifting gear and any third-party fees, where needed, are shown separately so you can see what each part of the job costs.

Do you offer trade rates for builders and roofers?

We carry out subcontract fitting for builders, roofers, extension companies and commercial contractors. Pricing is per job or per schedule of units, agreed in writing before we start. We can work to your programme, fit on your upstand or build our own, and leave the opening ready for the next trade. Send drawings or a unit schedule and we will come back with a trade quote.

Send a few photos and your WS9 postcode, and we will put together a written quote for the job.
