Loft conversion roof windows in Dyfed

No two loft roof windows in Dyfed cost exactly the same to fit, and a guide price only gets you so far. What moves it: the size and weight of the unit, whether a new opening is needed, the roof covering, scaffold or lifting needs, and how much internal finishing you want. We quote loft conversion roof windows across Dyfed with each of those spelt out. Send photos for a first figure, or arrange a survey where the job calls for one.

Towns we list in Dyfed

From the larger towns to the smaller places in between, we take on rooflight fitting across Dyfed. The process is the same for a terrace, a farmhouse extension or an industrial unit: details first, written quote second, fitting day third. Remote and island addresses in Wales, where they arise, are covered by arrangement, and we tell you that before quoting.

What's included

  • Insulation collars fitted so the room's insulation meets each frame
  • Linings fitted, ready for the plasterboarder or decorator
  • Matching or combination flashing kits for windows side by side
  • Fitting stage and weather — We plan when the windows go in around the rest of the conversion.
  • Energy performance in a loft — We check every window meets the energy limit for roof windows in existing homes.

Rules that apply in Wales

Wales sets energy limits of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 1.4 W/m²K for roof windows, and new rooflight openings generally need building regulations approval. Replacement units are controlled fittings; we are not registered with a competent person scheme, so ours are covered by a building notice to the council. Planning permission is needed for rooflights in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs and World Heritage Sites. We check which applies and include the fee in your quote.

Common questions in Dyfed

Does a rooflight need building regulations approval?

In Wales a new opening generally needs building regulations approval. A replacement must be self-certified by a scheme-registered installer or covered by a building notice. We are not registered with a scheme, so replacements we fit go through a building notice, and the council's fee is shown on your quote.

How long does fitting take?

Fitting a loft roof window into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.

Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?

Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.
