Dome rooflight replacement in Sale

Already bought a dome rooflight, or still deciding which one to get? Both are fine. For dome rooflight replacement in Sale we either source a suitable unit and install it, or fit the one waiting in your garage. Fit-only jobs are usually priced from your photos and measurements, while supply-and-fit and replacement jobs get a free survey first. Whichever route you take, the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the delivery are checked before anything is fixed down. Properties in M33 and the surrounding districts are covered on the same terms.

Fitting across Sale and nearby

Jobs across M33, M32 and M21 are part of our normal cover for Sale. We are not an office on the high street. Our fitting teams come out to the property from wherever they are working that week. Neighbouring places such as Stretford and Urmston are covered on the same terms, so a house on the edge of town is no harder to book than one in the centre.

Your dome rooflights or ours

There are two ways to do this. Supply and fit means we source a dome rooflight that suits your roof and install it, so one company answers for both the product choice and the fitting. Fit-only means you buy the unit and we install it. With fit-only, the product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our written guarantee covers the fitting work. Both routes get the same checks on the opening, the upstand and the maker's instructions before anything is fixed.

What we do on the day

  • Kerb checked for rot, size and height before the new unit goes on
  • Inside checked for drips and the trim refitted
  • New multi-skin dome or glass unit fixed and sealed
  • Fragile dome safety — We treat old domes as fragile at all times.
  • Kerb size and adaptors — We measure every kerb against the new dome's sizes.

A typical installation day

On the day, you need to be in at the start and at the end. In between, the fitters get on with it. They will want the room below cleared where possible, a parking spot if you have one, and somewhere to set the unit down safely. After checking the opening and the upstand or flashing, they fix a dome rooflight, seal it and finish the inside. Packaging and any old unit leave with them unless the quote says otherwise.

Planning and building rules in England

Two sets of rules matter in England. Planning: a rooflight on a house is normally permitted development if it projects no more than 0.15 m and stays below the highest part of the roof, but flats, listed buildings and Article 4 areas need checking. Building regulations: new openings need approval for the structure and energy performance, and a replacement is a controlled fitting. We are not registered with a competent person scheme, so we notify replacements to building control with a building notice and put the council's fee on the quote.

Help us quote accurately

A fast quote needs five things: a photo of the roof from outside, one from the room below, rough sizes of the opening or the space, the roof covering (felt, single-ply, fibreglass, tiles, slate or metal), and a note on access. If you have already bought the unit, add the product link or spec sheet. And give us the postcode, M33 or a neighbouring district.

Common questions in Sale

Do I need planning permission for a rooflight in Sale?

Often not. Many rooflights fall under permitted development, provided they do not project beyond the national limit and meet the other conditions that apply in England. Conservation areas, listed buildings and some flats are different and may need consent. Because the rules depend on the property, we confirm what is likely to apply at your address and point you to the planning authority where an application is needed.

Do you cover Sale?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Sale and the surrounding districts, including M33. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.

Can you fit the dome rooflight I bought online?

Yes, fit-only is one of our core services. Send the product link or spec, photos of the roof and rough sizes, and we can usually price it from those. Before fitting we check the delivery for damage, which should be reported to the seller, plus the size against the builder's opening and the upstand height. The product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our guarantee covers the fitting.
