Is your address covered?
Jobs across CF40, CF39 and CF41 are part of our normal cover for Tonypandy. We are not an office on the high street. Our fitting teams come out to the property from wherever they are working that week. Neighbouring places such as Rhondda and Pontypridd are covered on the same terms, so a house on the edge of town is no harder to book than one in the centre.
Included in the work
- Sealed unit ordered to match or improve on the original glass
- Old glass taken out safely and removed from site
- New glazing tapes, gaskets or sealant fitted to suit the frame
- Condition of the frame — We look at the frame closely before committing to new glass.
- Can the glass come out? — We check whether your rooflight has removable glass or a bonded unit before booking a fitting visit.
How the glass is replaced
The second visit is the quick one. With the new unit made to size, the fitters take the old glass out, check the frame and drainage paths, and set the new glass on packers so it sits square and drains properly. Seals and cappings are renewed where needed, the area is cleared, and you are shown what was done.
Planning, building control and Tonypandy
Welsh rules differ from England's in one important way: rooflights lose permitted development rights in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs and World Heritage Sites. Elsewhere on a house, a rooflight that projects no more than 150 mm and stays below the highest part of the roof is usually fine. Building regulations still apply to new openings, replacements we fit go through a building notice because we are not scheme-registered, and the energy limit for rooflights is 2.2 W/m²K. A new Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027.
What to send us
To price the measuring visit, send a photo of the rooflight from inside showing the misting or crack, one from outside if you can reach a safe viewpoint, and the rough size of the glass. If you know the make or have the original paperwork, include that too, along with the postcode.
Common questions in Tonypandy
Is the measuring visit charged?
Yes. The first visit measures the existing glass and checks the frame, and it is charged. We confirm that price before you book. The fitting of the new glass is then priced in writing, so you see the full cost before anything is ordered.
Can I upgrade the glass while it is being replaced?
Usually. Solar-control, self-cleaning, toughened or laminated glass can be specified as long as the frame can take the thickness and weight. We check that on the measuring visit and price the options side by side.
How long does new rooflight glass take?
The new sealed unit is made to the measured size, so there is a gap between the measuring visit and the fitting visit while it is produced. We give you the expected timing when we price the glass, and book the fitting once it has arrived.
For a repair in Tonypandy, start with photos and the postcode; we confirm the visit price before anything is booked.
