Roof lantern installation in Wallasey

Rooflight work is weather work. Membranes, primers and sealants all want a dry surface, so a fitting day in Wallasey is planned around the forecast rather than pinned to a date regardless of rain. The opening is kept covered whenever it is exposed, and a roof is not left open overnight without a proper temporary seal. That approach applies to every roof lantern we install, from a new opening to a straight swap or a fit-only job. We cover Wallasey, the CH45 district and the rest of Merseyside.

Fitting across Wallasey and nearby

Covering Wallasey means covering the people who live and work there, not a single postcode. We take on domestic and commercial jobs in CH45, CH44 and CH46, and are happy to quote further out in Moreton and Birkenhead. If your address sits between towns, tell us and we will confirm whether it falls in our normal area or needs travel set out separately on the quote.

Already bought your unit?

There are two ways to do this. Supply and fit means we source a roof lantern that suits your roof and install it, so one company answers for both the product choice and the fitting. Fit-only means you buy the unit and we install it. With fit-only, the product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our written guarantee covers the fitting work. Both routes get the same checks on the opening, the upstand and the maker's instructions before anything is fixed.

What the job includes

  • Roof membrane checked where it meets the lantern frame
  • Glass lifted and laid into the frame by hand or with gear
  • Glass cleaned and packaging cleared from the roof
  • Upstand size and tolerance — We check the kerb against the lantern maker's figures before the kit is opened.
  • Following the build order — We assemble lanterns in exactly the sequence the instructions give.

What happens on the day

Where a job takes one to two days, the split is usually structural work first and finishing second. Early on, the fitters cut or prepare the opening, trim where needed and prepare the upstand or flashing. Then a roof lantern is lifted in, fixed and made weathertight so the roof is sound before anyone moves inside. Plasterboard, trim and filler for the reveal come after. Each evening the work area is swept, and at the end the glass is cleaned and the team talks you through what was done.

Do you need permission in Wallasey?

In England, a new rooflight opening generally needs building regulations approval because the roof structure is altered and the glazing must meet energy rules: 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight in an existing home, or 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window. Planning is often not needed on a house: permitted development covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof slope and sit below the highest part of the roof. Flats, listed buildings and areas with an Article 4 direction are different, so we check your address first.

Before you get in touch

What we cannot see, we have to guess, and guesses make quotes wider. So the more you send, the tighter the price. Useful: shots from the roof or garden, shots from the room underneath, a rough width and length, the roof finish, any access problems, and the product page if you have already ordered. Add the property postcode around CH45 and we will come back with a quote or a survey date.

Common questions in Wallasey

What if my roof opening is the wrong size for the roof lantern?

We find out before the fitting day, not on it. If the opening is slightly out, it can usually be adjusted by trimming or by packing out the upstand. If it is a long way off, the choice is between altering the opening and changing the unit. Bear in mind that rooflights are often sold by builder's opening size rather than external size, so check which one your measurement refers to.

Can you fit the roof lantern I bought online?

Yes, fit-only is one of our core services. Send the product link or spec, photos of the roof and rough sizes, and we can usually price it from those. Before fitting we check the delivery for damage, which should be reported to the seller, plus the size against the builder's opening and the upstand height. The product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our guarantee covers the fitting.

Do you cover Wallasey?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Wallasey and the surrounding districts, including CH45. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
