Loft conversion roof windows in Worcester

Already bought a loft roof window, or still deciding which one to get? Both are fine. For loft conversion roof windows in Worcester we either source a suitable unit and install it, or fit the one waiting in your garage. Fit-only jobs are usually priced from your photos and measurements, while supply-and-fit and replacement jobs get a free survey first. Whichever route you take, the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the delivery are checked before anything is fixed down. Properties in WR1 and the surrounding districts are covered on the same terms.

Fitting across Worcester and nearby

Jobs across WR1, WR2 and WR5 are part of our normal cover for Worcester. We are not an office on the high street. Our fitting teams come out to the property from wherever they are working that week. Neighbouring places such as Droitwich and Great Malvern are covered on the same terms, so a house on the edge of town is no harder to book than one in the centre.

Your loft roof windows or ours

There are two ways to do this. Supply and fit means we source a loft roof window that suits your roof and install it, so one company answers for both the product choice and the fitting. Fit-only means you buy the unit and we install it. With fit-only, the product warranty stays with the maker or seller, and our written guarantee covers the fitting work. Both routes get the same checks on the opening, the upstand and the maker's instructions before anything is fixed.

What we do on the day

  • Underlay dressed and taped around every frame
  • Rafters trimmed and doubled where the openings need them
  • Tiles or slates cut and refitted, with the roof left weathertight
  • Combination flashings — We order combination flashings where windows sit close together.
  • Energy performance in a loft — We check every window meets the energy limit for roof windows in existing homes.

How a fitting day runs

Arrive and agree the plan. Sheet the floor and furniture. Set up the ladder, tower or scaffold. Check the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the unit against the paperwork. Fix and pack a loft roof window level. Seal it into the roof. Line the reveal or fit the ceiling trim. Clean the glass, clear the waste, and talk you through it. That is the shape of most fitting days, and for this type of job it usually takes one to two days.

Do you need permission in Worcester?

Two sets of rules matter in England. Planning: a rooflight on a house is normally permitted development if it projects no more than 0.15 m and stays below the highest part of the roof, but flats, listed buildings and Article 4 areas need checking. Building regulations: new openings need approval for the structure and energy performance, and a replacement is a controlled fitting. We are not registered with a competent person scheme, so we notify replacements to building control with a building notice and put the council's fee on the quote.

Getting a price from photos

What we cannot see, we have to guess, and guesses make quotes wider. So the more you send, the tighter the price. Useful: shots from the roof or garden, shots from the room underneath, a rough width and length, the roof finish, any access problems, and the product page if you have already ordered. Add the property postcode around WR1 and we will come back with a quote or a survey date.

Common questions in Worcester

Can you remove and dispose of the old rooflight?

Yes. Taking out the old unit is part of any replacement job, and it leaves with the rest of the waste unless you ask to keep it. Old domes, glass and frames go through proper waste routes. If removal turns up a rotten kerb or damaged decking, we show you what we have found and agree the repair with you before going any further.

What if my roof opening is the wrong size for the loft roof window?

We find out before the fitting day, not on it. If the opening is slightly out, it can usually be adjusted by trimming or by packing out the upstand. If it is a long way off, the choice is between altering the opening and changing the unit. Bear in mind that rooflights are often sold by builder's opening size rather than external size, so check which one your measurement refers to.

Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?

Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.

Send a few photos and your WR1 postcode, and we will put together a written quote for the job.
