Towns we list in Shropshire
We work right across England, and Shropshire is covered on the same footing as everywhere else. There is no showroom or depot to visit. The survey happens at your property or, for fit-only jobs, from your photos. If your address is remote or reached by ferry, tell us early and we will confirm what arrangement is needed before quoting.

What the job includes
- Roof covering turned up and finished under the glass overhang
- Lifting gear arranged for heavy single panes where two people cannot safely carry
- Glass bedded on the specified tape or sealant and fixed through the concealed frame
- How the reveal will look — We agree the finish at the glass edge before building anything.
- Tolerance on the upstand — We build frameless kerbs to the maker's tolerance rather than to normal carpentry accuracy.
Rules that apply in England
Replacing a rooflight in an English home is a controlled fitting: it has to be self-certified by a scheme-registered installer or notified to building control. We are not registered with a competent person scheme, so replacements we fit are notified with a building notice, and the new unit has to meet current energy limits. Adding a new one usually means a building regulations application, because joists or rafters are trimmed. On the planning side, most house rooflights are permitted development if they project 0.15 m or less; on a side slope the glass must be obscured and fixed unless the opening part is over 1.7 m above the floor.
Common questions in Shropshire
What upstand height and roof pitch does frameless rooflight fitting need?
It depends on the product. Manufacturers usually specify a minimum upstand height above the finished roof surface, and a minimum pitch on the glass so rain runs off. We follow the maker's figures for your unit rather than a rule of thumb. If your existing kerb or roof falls short, we explain the options, such as raising the upstand or choosing a unit with built-in pitch.
Do you cover Shropshire?
Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Shropshire and the surrounding districts, including DY, SY, TF and WV postcodes. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
What if my roof opening is the wrong size for the frameless rooflight?
We find out before the fitting day, not on it. If the opening is slightly out, it can usually be adjusted by trimming or by packing out the upstand. If it is a long way off, the choice is between altering the opening and changing the unit. Bear in mind that rooflights are often sold by builder's opening size rather than external size, so check which one your measurement refers to.
