Phased replacement across a building, priced from a survey
Guide ranges for supply & fit, per unit; site set-up priced separately. Your price is fixed in a written quote after we have seen photos or surveyed. Scaffold, access towers or a crane are priced separately if the job needs them, and building control fees, where a job needs them, are shown as their own line.
Coverage in and around Risca
Risca and the districts around it, NP11, NP10 and NP20, all sit inside our working area. So does the ground between Risca and Newport (5 miles), and on towards Cwmbran (5 miles). When a fitting team is booked, their travel is already in the quoted price, so it does not turn up as a surprise line on the final bill.
What the job includes
- Roof survey of every unit, kerb and the fragile areas around them
- Old units removed, with waste taken off site
- Access, edge protection and fragile-roof covers planned before work starts
- Fragile roofs and rooflights — We treat every rooflight and the roof around it as fragile until we have checked it.
- Fire performance near boundaries — We check how close the rooflights are to the site boundary and to escape routes.
A typical installation day
Arrive and agree the plan. Sheet the floor and furniture. Set up the ladder, tower or scaffold. Check the opening, the upstand or flashing, and the unit against the paperwork. Fix and pack a commercial rooflight level. Seal it into the roof. Line the reveal or fit the ceiling trim. Clean the glass, clear the waste, and talk you through it. That is the shape of most fitting days, and for this type of job it usually takes about a day per unit, longer on big roofs.
Planning and building rules in Wales
On commercial roofs in Wales, new openings and structural changes go through building control, and fire performance has to be considered where rooflights are near a boundary. Smoke vents must be certified products with controls set up by a specialist. We confirm what applies to your building before quoting.
Before you get in touch
Each detail you send takes a question off our list. Photos inside and out show the opening and the ceiling. Rough measurements tell us the unit size. The roof covering tells us how it will be sealed in. Access notes tell us whether a tower or scaffold is needed. A product link, if you have one, lets us check it against the opening. Your postcode, NP11 or nearby, confirms travel.
Common questions in Risca
Do you cover Risca?
Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Risca and the surrounding districts, including NP11. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
What upstand height and roof pitch does commercial rooflight fitting need?
It depends on the product. Manufacturers usually specify a minimum upstand height above the finished roof surface, and a minimum pitch on the glass so rain runs off. We follow the maker's figures for your unit rather than a rule of thumb. If your existing kerb or roof falls short, we explain the options, such as raising the upstand or choosing a unit with built-in pitch.
Can you fit a rooflight in winter or when it is raining?
Yes, within limits. Cold is less of a problem than wet, because membranes, primers and sealants need a dry surface to bond. We plan fitting days around the forecast and may move a date if heavy rain is due. If the roof has to be opened up, it is not left overnight without a temporary weather seal, so the room below stays dry while the work is finished.
Ask for a quote for your Risca roof. Survey dates are offered based on fitter availability once you are happy with the price.
