Trade rooflight fitting in Wolverhampton

Plenty of rooflight trouble starts with a tape measure. Units are often sold by the builder's opening, meaning the hole in the roof, rather than the overall external size, and confusing the two leaves you with a frame that does not suit the opening. Before we fit any rooflight in Wolverhampton, we measure the opening, the upstand or kerb where there is one, and the finished roof level, then compare them with the maker's drawing. If something is out, you hear about it before the fitting day rather than on it. That single check keeps most jobs like this on track.

Coverage in and around Wolverhampton

Our fitters come to you. For Wolverhampton that covers WV1, WV2 and WV3, plus nearby Wednesfield and Willenhall. We do not keep a yard or showroom in the area, and you do not need to visit one. The survey happens at your property or, for fit-only work, from the photos you send. Dates follow fitter availability, which we confirm when you accept the quote.

Included in the work

  • Pitched roof windows fitted with their flashing kits
  • Roof lanterns assembled and glazed on your upstand
  • Flat rooflights fitted, sealed and trimmed on your kerbs
  • Deliveries and damage — We check delivered units against the schedule before fitting.
  • Who weathers the roof — We agree who turns the roof covering up the kerb before we book.

Fitting your rooflight, step by step

On the day, you need to be in at the start and at the end. In between, the fitters get on with it. They will want the room below cleared where possible, a parking spot if you have one, and somewhere to set the unit down safely. After checking the opening and the upstand or flashing, they fix a rooflight, seal it and finish the inside. Packaging and any old unit leave with them unless the quote says otherwise.

Regulations for Wolverhampton properties

England's rules in short: permitted development usually covers a rooflight on a house roof provided it doesn't stick out more than 0.15 m or rise above the ridge, though a listed building always needs consent and some streets have Article 4 directions. Building regulations apply to new openings, and replacements go through building control; as we are not registered with a competent person scheme, we agree up front who notifies it. The energy limit for rooflights in existing homes is 2.2 W/m²K, and the 2026 Approved Document L, in force from 24 March 2027, keeps that figure.

Before you get in touch

Each detail you send takes a question off our list. Photos inside and out show the opening and the ceiling. Rough measurements tell us the unit size. The roof covering tells us how it will be sealed in. Access notes tell us whether a tower or scaffold is needed. A product link, if you have one, lets us check it against the opening. Your postcode, WV1 or nearby, confirms travel.

Common questions in Wolverhampton

Do you cover Wolverhampton?

Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Wolverhampton and the surrounding districts, including WV1. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.

Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?

Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.

What is included in the price?

The written quote lists it line by line. Typically that covers fitting labour, fixings, sealants, membrane or flashing materials, any upstand work, internal finishing if agreed, and taking away the waste. For supply and fit, the unit itself is included too. Scaffold, lifting gear and any third-party fees, where needed, are shown separately so you can see what each part of the job costs.
