Where our fitters travel
Looking at a property near Fulham but not quite in it? We work across SW6, SW10 and SW5 and outwards to Hammersmith, Chelsea and Kensington. Give us the full postcode when you get in touch, because access, parking and the route for a large unit all depend on the exact street. Those details shape the quote for any job around Fulham.
On the day, we cover
- A short note of anything we found that needs your attention
- Supplied units checked against your schedule before fitting
- Roof lanterns assembled and glazed on your upstand
- Who weathers the roof — We agree who turns the roof covering up the kerb before we book.
- Upstand ready and to size — We ask for the upstands to be built to the maker's drawing before we arrive.
How a fitting day runs
On the day, you need to be in at the start and at the end. In between, the fitters get on with it. They will want the room below cleared where possible, a parking spot if you have one, and somewhere to set the unit down safely. After checking the opening and the upstand or flashing, they fix a rooflight, seal it and finish the inside. Packaging and any old unit leave with them unless the quote says otherwise.
Planning and building rules in England
Two sets of rules matter in England. Planning: a rooflight on a house is normally permitted development if it projects no more than 0.15 m and stays below the highest part of the roof, but flats, listed buildings and Article 4 areas need checking. Building regulations: new openings need approval for the structure and energy performance, and a replacement is a controlled fitting. We are not registered with a competent person scheme, so on replacements we agree up front who notifies building control.
Before you get in touch
What we cannot see, we have to guess, and guesses make quotes wider. So the more you send, the tighter the price. Useful: shots from the roof or garden, shots from the room underneath, a rough width and length, the roof finish, any access problems, and the product page if you have already ordered. Add the property postcode around SW6 and we will come back with a quote or a survey date.
Common questions in Fulham
Do you need scaffolding to fit a rooflight?
Not always. Single-storey roofs can often be reached safely with ladders, a tower or edge protection. Higher roofs, steep pitches and large units usually need scaffold or a mobile platform, and heavy glass may need a crane. We assess access from your photos or at the survey, and any scaffold or lifting cost is shown as its own line on the written quote.
Do you cover Fulham?
Yes. Fitters travel to addresses in Fulham and the surrounding districts, including SW6. We do not run an office there; the survey and the fitting happen at your property. A few island and remote postcodes are covered by arrangement; if yours is one, we confirm travel and dates before quoting.
How long does fitting take?
Fitting a rooflight into an existing, correctly sized opening is often a day's work. New openings take longer, because joists or rafters need trimming, an upstand or flashing has to be built or fitted, and the inside needs finishing. Large units that need lifting gear, and days lost to rain, can stretch things further. Your written quote gives a realistic estimate for your roof.
