Coverage in and around Brymbo
Covering Brymbo means covering the people who live and work there, not a single postcode. We take on domestic and commercial jobs in LL11, LL12 and LL13, and are happy to quote further out in Wrexham and Rhosllannerchrugog. If your address sits between towns, tell us and we will confirm whether it falls in our normal area or needs travel set out separately on the quote.
Buying your own, or letting us supply
Your unit or ours, the fitting standard is the same. For supply and fit we choose a dome rooflight to suit the roof and price it with the installation. For fit-only we work with what you have, after confirming it arrived undamaged, that it matches the builder's opening, and that the upstand will sit at the height the maker asks for. Report any transit damage to the seller, as the product cover is theirs and the maker's. Our written guarantee applies to the fitting itself.
On the day, we cover
- Adaptor or packing fitted where the old kerb needs it
- Kerb top cleaned of old sealant, fixings and loose felt
- Inside checked for drips and the trim refitted
- Is the kerb sound? — We check each kerb for rot and movement before quoting a dome swap.
- Multi-skin domes and energy — We fit multi-skin domes rather than single-skin ones as replacements.
From arrival to clean-up
Protection comes before tools. Floors, furniture and stairs get covered, and the ceiling below the opening is sheeted to catch dust. Up top, the fitters confirm the opening is square and the upstand or flashing suits what the maker specifies. Fixing follows, then weather-sealing into the membrane, felt or tiles. Only once the roof is tight do they turn to the internal reveal. Time on site for a dome rooflight: a few hours per dome, weather permitting.
Do you need permission in Brymbo?
Wales sets energy limits of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 1.4 W/m²K for roof windows, and new rooflight openings generally need building regulations approval. Replacement units are controlled fittings; we are not registered with a competent person scheme, so ours are covered by a building notice to the council. Planning permission is needed for rooflights in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs and World Heritage Sites. We check which applies and include the fee in your quote.
Before you get in touch
Each detail you send takes a question off our list. Photos inside and out show the opening and the ceiling. Rough measurements tell us the unit size. The roof covering tells us how it will be sealed in. Access notes tell us whether a tower or scaffold is needed. A product link, if you have one, lets us check it against the opening. Your postcode, LL11 or nearby, confirms travel.
Common questions in Brymbo
Do you make good inside after fitting?
Yes, where the quote includes it. Internal finishing usually means lining the reveal with plasterboard, taping or skimming, and fitting trim where it meets the ceiling. Some people prefer their own plasterer or decorator to finish off, which is fine. The written quote spells out exactly where our work stops, so nobody is left guessing about who does what once the unit is in.
What is included in the price?
The written quote lists it line by line. Typically that covers fitting labour, fixings, sealants, membrane or flashing materials, any upstand work, internal finishing if agreed, and taking away the waste. For supply and fit, the unit itself is included too. Scaffold, lifting gear and any third-party fees, where needed, are shown separately so you can see what each part of the job costs.
Can you replace an old dome without redoing the whole roof?
Usually, yes. If the existing kerb is sound, level and tall enough, a new unit can often sit on it with a fresh seal to the roof covering. If the kerb is rotten or too low, we rebuild it and patch the covering around it rather than stripping the whole roof. This is checked at the survey and included in the written quote, so you know the full scope first.
Tell us your postcode, LL11 or close by, and what you want fitted. We will reply with the next steps and a quote.
